Monthly Favourites: May

May has passed and summer is just around the corner. With my holiday just 2 months away, I'm getting so excited to soon be on a beach and soaking up the sun but first, here's my May favourites...

Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Medium Brown
I have always been an eyebrow pencil girl and the thought of using a gel or anything else scared the life out of me but since using this I've ditched the pencil for good. I love how I can get a full brow with such ease and build up the intensity depending on the look I'm after. I can really define my brow shape and create light strokes using the brush, my eyebrows have never looked better.

Soap and Glory Solar Powder
This has been my holy grail bronzer for a year now but Soap and Glory have recently changed the packaging from cardboard to a sturdier plastic casing which is so much better for on the go. It's still the same fantastic bronzer but better packaging! It's important to us beauty bloggers, right?!

Mac Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation
The traditional Pro Longwear foundation is my favourite so of course I picked this up. It's been in my collection for ages but only up until recently have I reached for it regularly. The cover is medium and buildable so if you're after a heavier coverage, it's easy to work up and the lasting power of this is as good as the original.

Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer
This is everything I've been looking for in a concealer; good coverage, lightweight, brightening, moisturising and the best part is it's an absolute bargain. This little tube has lasted me all through May and now into June. It's an all rounder, no longer am I using 3 concealers to target certain areas, this can do it all.

Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Moisturiser
If you are a dry, dehydrated skin girl then look no further than this. After trying every moisturiser on the market claiming to relieve my dry skin I was at wits end. This cream-gel formula sinks into the skin like a dream and leaves my skin feeling plump and hydrated, banishing that dry, tight feeling. The Moisture Surge range is fantastic and if you're looking for a good moisturising eye cream or face mask, I highly recommend those too.

What have you been loving during May? Have you tried any of these products?

Starskin Sheet Masks

I used to be an avid lover of the traditional paint on masks but when you're in a rush or wanting a quick pick me up, I've been opting for the Starskin Sheet Masks. Starskin are a brand I came across whilst browsing the beauty halls of my local Harvey Nichols, they're not a brand I'd heard of before but I was instantly drawn to the luxury packaging and the promise of nourished, hydrated skin got me purchasing them in a heartbeat. Depending on the skin concern you're wanting to treat they offer a range retailing around £6-£13 offering masks for eyes, hands and feet as well as a range for the face.

If you're like me and love taking away different lotions and potions on holiday to give yourself that well deserved pamper then these could be the perfect alternative, not to mention saving room in your 20KG luggage allowance. I have been stock piling these for my holiday in August and I can't wait to feel how soft and nourished my face, hands and feet will feel after pampering with these.

The face masks are the traditional sheet masks with the eyes and mouth cut out but unlike other sheet masks they don't have the creamy, milky residue that leaves the masks sliding off your face. When I used the Hydrating Mask it was soaked in a thick gel which clung to my face and really nourished without having to worry that the mask was sliding off. I left the mask on for the allotted time which Starskin suggest around 20 minutes. Once I removed the masks, I gently pat the residue into my skin and I'm left with my feel feeling hydrated, looking plump and glowing.

The packaging of these is fantastic, they come in handy pouches so they're perfect for travelling and if you're suffering with a sunburnt face, pop them in the fridge for an added boost. I can't wait to stock up on more including the Calming mask which will be my holiday saviour!

Have you tried sheet masks before? Do you like Starskin?

Life Update

If someone told me this time last year my life would be completely different I would have laughed in their face. Things have dramatically changed. I'm no longer hanging around with the same people I used to be nor working the same job I was in last year. 2016 has already been a rollercoaster of a year and for once I'm really happy with how things are going.

I left my old full time job in January, it wasn't a case of me finding a new job and handing in my notice, I was forced out of my job and left with immediate effect on my last working day. I've never known how much a job could affect my mood until I got out of the toxic environment. It was a relief to leave and go on to realising it wasn't me that was the problem in that job but the environment and the toxic staff. Where am I now? Well after dabbling in some locum work which means visiting other pharmacies and working on a self employed basis, I found a job at another pharmacy in my town full time which I'm really happy with. I am already feeling much better in myself and enjoying where I am in life now.

As for my personal wellbeing, I am exercising regularly, eating well and generally feeling much better about myself, I've had a really rocky couple of months where "friends" have made me feel guilty for struggling but now I've let go of those toxic people, I can 100% say I'm much happier. I have a holiday booked in August with my family which I'm really excited to go on and I've got lots of exciting events and trips planned for the year.

As for blogging, I will always need to take a break here and then but I love that this little space is mine and those who read it will always come back and support me when I'm here. I'm hoping to bring out some new content, improve on my photography and maybe even dabble in some YouTube. I'm feeling really inspired and I can't wait to share it all with you.

Love, Beth xx
