Introduction to Reds

I wish I was a natural red lip wearer, some girls I watch on Youtube or follow on Instagram can pull off a red lip and I have serious lipstick envy. I'm a girl that will always stick to my nudes and peachy toned pinks but now Autumn is officially here and the dark lipstick is coming out, I'm slowing introducing a more varied colour range into my lipstick collection so by christmas, I'll have on my christmas jumper and a bright red lip.

To start of my future as a red lip wearer, I've eased myself in gently, starting with darker shades of pinks, orange toned reds and one dark red. My most worn out of the bunch is the Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien, this is a beautiful formula, very different to the other pencil offerings from Nars, this glides on the lips like a dream and gives a slightly glossy finish. The colour is very similar to MAC Please Me lipstick but I much prefer this for it's glossy finish, it's a soft muted rose shade with a slight hint of brown and red.

Like I said, I'm not the most confident when it comes to wearing dark lips but last Autumn when the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella came out and it was all over the bloggersphere, I knew I had to buy it. I wore it once and it's returned unloved to my make up collection but this year I plan to be wearing it all throughout winter. This is a beautiful blood red, and the formula is just incredible. I find that I apply this once and as it wears off it creates a stain on the lips, the colour can be built up depending on how deep you want the colour but I find a quick swipe straight from the bullet creates the perfect finish.

The next two are gems I've picked up from the high street, the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 110 is my most loved but most neglected lipstick, I never really find an occasion to wear this but it's a truly beautiful colour. The matte formula lasts all day (or evening) and only really needs reapplying once. I always use a lip pencil with this and it's quite a bright colour, the formula stains the skin so to avoid the lipstick bleeding I definitely recommend a lip pencil. The colour is a orange based red which really suits all those pale girls like myself. The Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick in Bewitching Coral is still very much classed within the pink shades but it's hint of red and orange means for me it's very much in the red category, this has been my transitional lipstick from my nudes.

I'm still very much a red lip newbie so if you have any recommendations of reds I should pick up, leave them below and lets see if by December I'm a convert... Well, we can hope can't we.
