Monthly Favourites: May

Monthly favourites time! Can you believe it's June and we're half way through the year? How crazy is that! May has been a busy month for me with various ups and downs but I'm going into June more positive and determined to get myself into some routine and continue being happy. Anyway, enough of the rambling, lets get down to the good stuff...

The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is a product I have a love/hate relationship with, it's definitely different to Bioderma and a great product if you're after that sort of thing but for me, Bioderma is a cut above the rest. I've opted for using the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water if I can't be bothered with a full cleanse (we've all been there) and this removes all my make up, the only downside is that it doesn't remove waterproof mascara but for under £10, this is a great high street version of Bioderma and a great start for anyone who wants to dip their foot in the micellar water pool.

It's got hotter and my skin has got slightly oilier, so after suffering too many breakouts from using the heavy Clinique TOTD Cleansing Balm, I switched up my cleansers and I'm now using the REN Rosa Centifolia Hot Cloth Cleanser, this is a lightweight cream that I used to massage all over my face and even over my eye make up to remove all the grime. This is a perfect morning and evening cleanser, it doesn't strip the skin or irritate, the formulation is very mild and it's almost scentless. It removes even the heaviest of make up without a second cleanse and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.

Is anyone else the worst at washing their make up brushes? I've got a pot full that need cleaning as I type this but to make that job a bit shorter and to give my brushes a thorough clean, I've been using the Dr Bronners Magic Soap, I run my brush under the water, swirl the brush in the soap and lather up, then rinse. It's as easy as that and my brushes are soft with all traces of powder/foundation/cream is removed.

May has been a month where I've been hating my hair, it was greasy, heavy and generally all around awful, I've got an appointment booked at the weekend so I'll have new locks soon but I was desperate for a product to remove all the grime. I searched Boots and my local Space NK and neither of them stocked the Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo so I had to do with the next best thing and under Anna's recommendation, I purchased the Boots Expert Build Up Removal Shampoo. So far so good and I'm liking it, I use this around once a week to get rid of the Oribe build up and it leaves my hair squeaky clean. I wouldn't recommend this for coloured haired ladies like myself, it's removed some of my hair colour quite quickly which isn't a terrible thing for me but if you're a glossy brunette, maybe use this very sparingly.

Finally, we have a Clarins product?! Haha wouldn't be a favourites without something from Clarins would it? The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector has been gracing my lips all month, it's a balm and gloss combo with the tiniest amount of colour but for days when I'm super lazy or opting for a 'no make up, make up' look, this is perfect. I've written about a fab dupe in my previous post here so if you don't fancy forking out £18, head on over to have a read.

Lets see what June brings, I've got lots of exciting things planned and I'm really feeling more positive and can't wait to see what life has got for me round the corner. Here's to a happy June!
