John Frieda Luxurious Volume Range

I spoke about my hair woes here, and yes it's flat and lifeless and with the help of Phyto and Oribe, I can have textured tresses but sometimes these options just aren't too purse friendly so welcome to the pursuit of high street volumising hair care. The lovely people at John Frieda sent me some of their products from the new Luxurious Volume range and I'm gonna give you the low down!

Touchably Full Shampoo & Conditioner* If you just want a little somethin' somethin', then I definitely recommend the shampoo and conditioner, this gives enough texture and body to your hair without weighing it down. There are days where I just don't feel like doing the whole styling shabang, so I wash my hair with this and pop it up in a big bun and there's enough body in there for my liking.

Root Booster* When I go out, I tend to opt for straight hair but I can guarantee half way through the night my hair is flat. So as the pre-night out prep goes, I wash my hair with the shampoo and conditioner, towel dry and add some of the Root Booster spray to my roots and then blow dry. Voila, the body lasts all night with a touch of Oribe Dry Texturising Spray as a top-up in that sweaty nightclub.

Fine To Full Blow Out Spray* This stuff is heat activated so after the shower I spray this over towel dried hair (I don't usually use this at the same time as the Root Booster) and blow dry my hair, the product gives the effect of an hairdressers blow dry in a bottle. I love this stuff, it's so lightweight and it's become a staple for my hair routine on a night out! I tend to mix and match between this and the Root Booster depending on the hairstyle I'm going for.

All the high end volumising products are great and really do work but aren't always money friendly so if you want some oomph in your hair care routine on a high street price, definitely try the John Frieda Luxurious Volume range, they have a website here if you want to know more about the range and also check out their Youtube for hair tips. It's been a favourite of mine to watch to create new hairstyles.

The Cleansing Rotation

Cleansers are my favourite part of my skincare routine. I love coming home after a long day at work and just taking off my make-up and being left with super soft and cleansed skin. I have a few cleansers on rotation, which is good according to Caroline Hirons because everyone should have a skincare wardrobe. Lets start off with morning, sometimes depending on how my skin is feeling and looking, I will opt for the REN Rosa Centifolia Gel Cleanser - two pumps of this massaged into the skin really wakes me up and went water is added, it turns into a milk, this isn't great for removing make-up but for first thing in the morning, it's perfect. If my skin is feeling lacklustre and I need a pick-me-up, the REN Micro Polish Cleanser is a recent addition but an absolute favourite and this really works, my skin looks brighter instantly after using this. The cleanser is a grainy texture which foams up when water is added, I work this into my skin for a few minutes and the grains exfoliate any dead skin away, it also smells lovely. A teen favourite has to be the Neutrogena Spot Stress Control Cleanser, I have used this for as long as I can remember, I've never been one for problem skin *touch wood* but whenever my skin is playing up, I strip back my skincare routine and go back to this. It helps reduce the size of blemishes and they've gone within a week or so. It's slightly menthol and really helps calm those pesky spots brewing! And of course, hydration! The Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm nourishes my skin whilst removing the dregs of my remaining make-up after my first cleanse, this cleanses my skin perfectly and leaves it feeling soft and supple and if I want to add a bit of natural exfoliation, a pinch of the Emma Hardie Rosehip Seeds added to the balm gets off the dead skin and I'm left with nourished, exfoliated skin.

A Nails Inc Summer

There's nothing more I love when it comes to Summer than pairing up my nail polish, getting rid of the deep reds and purples and entering in the pastels and neons. To me, brighter colours make me feel more summery and happier and Nails Inc have really stepped it up this season with their colours. Baker Street was one of the first colours to start my love affair, the amount of comments I have on this nail polish is unbelievable, a bright deep blue which really stands out and looks fantastic and paired with a tan? Gorgeous. Royal Botanical Gardens looks very blue in the pot but when painted and a top coat added, it turns into a gorgeous green tinted blue. Another pastel is Kensington Palace Gardens, I first saw this on Millie Mackintosh's instagram and immediately fell in love and knew I had to have it, a pink coral pastel which really compliments my current tan. Finally is Portobello which is my favourite shade, a bright neon orange which looks very red in the pot, this is currently painted on my toes and this will be coming away with me to Cyprus! Nails Inc have really delivered this summer and it's the only nail polish brand I'm choosing, I love their formula, staying power and their wide choice of colours. Well done Nails Inc, well done!

Favourite High Street Make-up Picks

I'll always probably favour high end, there's no better feeling than stepping out of Space NK or a department store with a bag full of goodies for you to play with but sometimes the months are hard and high end just isn't feasible. The high street has really stepped up when it comes to make-up lately and I'm gonna share my favourite picks.

Topshop lipsticks Probably my favourite lipsticks to pick up on the high street, pigmented colours that come in a range of formulas. My favourites have to be Macaroon, Secret Admirer and Whimsicle. These have fantastic staying power and such a bargain at £8. If you're ever after a high street lipstick, Topshop is the place to go!

Rimmel Stay Matte powder, Wake Me Up concealer & Wake Me Up foundation These three are my skin saviours. I never thought I would love high street base products but these are amazing. The foundation and concealer lasts all day, the coverage is medium and gives a dewy radiant glow without looking too shiny but if you feel like you need matting up, the Stay Matte powder is great with the combo to mattify any areas and set your make-up in place for the whole day.

Maybelline The Falsies mascara Long full lashes, yes yes yes! If I had to choose a high street item to take to a desert island, it would be this. It makes my lashes look voluminous, long and the staying power is fantastic. The curved brush is perfect for covering all the lashes and the formula of this means no clumpy lashes!

REN Micro Polish Cleanser & Ultra Moisture Day Cream

The lovely ladies at REN sent me some goodies to try out and I'm gonna give you the low down. If you're like me and strive for radiance then the Micro Polish Cleanser* will be right up your street. A grainy cleanser that foams up when water is added - as much as I love my Elemis Cleansing Balm, I've opted for this cleanser on a morning and evening to give my skin a boost of something and that it does. I'll be taking this away with me on my travels. A little goes a long way and it really packs some punch when it comes to radiance. Now onto the Ultra Moisture Day Cream*, I always switch up my moisturisers but this has been my go-to ever since I received it, it's gentle, unscented and works on the most sensitive of skins. Two pumps covers my whole face and neck and hydration lasts all day long which has been a godsend in this warm weather, my skin has become very dry and this has helped so much. If you're looking for some radiance and moisture in your skincare routine, definitely try these gems from REN.

Va Va Voom

I have the worlds worst hair, fact. It's flat and lifeless, as soon as I blow dry it and run the straighteners over my locks, it just seems so flat within seconds so I have a haircare routine to give me some ooomph and give the ladies from the Pantene adverts a run for their money. Lets start with the in shower shenanigans, I used the Phyto Volume Shampoo and Conditioner to give my locks some texture. The shampoo is a typical Phyto shampoo, thin consistency, slightly thicker than water but an almond sized amount gives enough suds to cover all my hair, rinse out and then the conditioner applied to the ends only. This is a heavy conditioner so put on the roots, it would weigh the hair down and cause unwanted grease. A blast with the hair dryer and it's time for post shower prep - the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray will set you back a small fortune but I can't imagine my life without this. It can be used as a dry shampoo or texturising spray (perfect for those lazy mornings and the 'no-work-but-it-was-a-lot-of-work look'). The spray adds so much texture and body to your hair and a few sprays gives enough volume to last all day (and night!) Finally, if your tresses haven't got enough va va voom, the Denman Dressing Out Brush is an essential, a little backcombing brush, a brush at the roots gives serious body! If you invest in anything, let it be this! That's all the volume I need, where's the Pantene set?

Nars Gina Blush

If there's anything I love, it's a good old hint of orange. Now we're not talking about those bright orange bronzed strips some girls plaster over their cheeks, just a subtle hint of peachy or orangey goodness. When I did some damage to my bank account in Space NK they rewarded me with £5 to spend which led to more spending so I snapped up the Nars Gina blush, a matte powder blusher in a light orange shade. Perfect for summer and suits my Casper skin quite well. A typical Nars blusher - a little goes a long way with this super fine powder. Another peachy blusher to add to the collection, well a girl can't have too many blushers, right?

Monthly Favourites: May

I really can't believe it's June already, where has the year gone? Only two months till Cyprus, but August feels like forever away. Now onto the few things I've been loving in the month of May...

Nars And God Created The Woman Palette When I first saw this on the Nars Instagram, I knew I had to have it, I searched high and low for it but it was only available in the US and then when it was released I didn't have enough money and then finally, when I did it went out of stock. Anyway, the lovely people at Space NK sourced one from one of their shops and sent me it (great idea and service by the way), and ever since I've been reaching for it when a smokey eye takes my fancy. Each shade is wearable and they all compliment each other very well.

Elie Saab EDP I got this on a whim, I'd sprayed it in my local Boots, didn't like it but when I visited the Beauty Bazaar in Liverpool, I sprayed it again and fell in love so snapped it up. The scent is beautiful and lasts ages, I've had so many compliments on it and it's a very easy everyday fragrance to wear.

Bioderma Who doesn't love this? Removes make-up in seconds, cleanses skin and doesn't irritate. I love this particular bottle because it has a pump which makes life so much easier and it means I don't use as much as I would normally. I picked up this bottle off eBay and would definitely recommend the pump bottle to anyone!

Mac 217 How did I live without this brush? I am an eyeshadow amateur, I absolutely suck at a smokey eye but when I used my Nars palette and this brush, even I get it right! Now with the work of the Mac 217, even I can have a smokey eye Kim Kardashian would be envious of!
